Principles First, Joint Session housekeeping
Coming soon: #nevertrump conference novella and the worst Joint Session in Congressional history.
I recently had the opportunity to attend the Principles First Summit in Washington, DC, to see some #nevertrump Republicans like Chris Christie, Bill Kristol, Adam Kinzinger, etc. bemoan the monster they created. This conference should have been sleepy, like a Morning Joe marathon, but it was interrupted, first by Proud Boy leader Enrique Tarrio coming in to harass officer Michael Fanone and then a bomb threat necessitating evacuation. I have been diligently preparing an exciting, gonzo-style reflection on the event for the last week, but that coverage is ballooning to novella size. So please stay tuned and look forward to it. Once this is completed, I intend to resume a regular posting schedule again.
President Donald Trump will address a joint session of Congress tomorrow; as of yet, we have no word on whether or not President Elon Musk will be joining. I would prefer not to watch this—my stomach cannot handle it, after the shameful shit that was Mr. Trump’s meeting with President Zelensky. Mr. Trump has promised to “tell it like it is,” which feels ominous. Hopefully he does not intend to announce suspending the Constitution, disbanding the Congress or anything particularly dystopian.
In the event Mr. Trump announces that they will begin to throw bloggers out of helicopters tomorrow, I would like to address history: y’all, this shit is fucked up and half the country knows it’s fucked up. The half that wanted this has serious problems. I hope in your time, you have found a cure for whatever is wrong with them.
