Letter to Leader Jeffries: More Al Green, Please.
Democratic Base needs red meat badly.

Dear Leader Jeffries,
Y’all are not tending your base properly at the moment. We are not asking you to singlehandedly and overnight dismantle and destroy the far-right MAGA technofeudalist regime (although, if you could, please do). But we expect leadership who, as fascists on the right say, know what time it is.
We are watching the Republic fail while GOP billionaires loot the social safety net and strip America for parts. The Democratic Party’s response feels like it was scripted after talking to a focus group afraid of stress. The American people are not looking for assurances—we want to be behind you in a fight.
Voters who turned out to defend democracy in 2016, 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2024 are in my group chats saying they think Democrats are complicit in Mr. Trump’s demolition of our government. They cannot pray the party meets this moment at some point. Presidents Donald Trump and Elon Musk have been at work for months.
People are calling their representatives and demanding Republicans be fought, and you are reportedly “very frustrated” about that? You ought to be grateful you have support. Leader Jeffries, if you are “pissed” we want our party to be an opposition force, they are “pissed” they need to ask. GOP extremism is an existential threat, and you have a coalition that treats it as such. You could never ask for better motive force.
When Rep. Al Green stood up and told Mr. Trump he had no mandate, that was the only time I have seen anyone (other than Rep. Jamie Raskin) get plaudits from my very Democratic establishment Facebook timeline. That any Democrat voted to censure him has birthed calls for primary challenges. I know Mr. Green can be wacky, but that’s the red meat the base needs to be fed.
The funding fight ahead will be fucking brutal. You want us to appear as the “sane party,” the “adults in the room.” But you are not Rep. Nancy Pelosi. You do not have the same trust or loyalty—you are in many ways a stranger. Before you expect people to believe you are “fighting for them” when you are on a damned book tour and by all account suppressing our partisan combativeness, you first have to recognize and celebrate the People’s rage.
Leader Jeffries, show us you hate this evil shit too.
Your party’s base is furious watching this American carnage while House leadership tries to be chill. The GOP is aggressive while our so-called opposition party is still trying to “find the right message.” In case you have not noticed: Nobody else is being polite.
My suggestion, Sir: Pick up a "Trump is a Bitch" or "Fuck DOGE" t-shirt from the Partisan Hex store. Wear something that will not just let people know you are ready to do ideological combat with the MAGA Republican domestic terrorists, but that you are willing to provoke it.
